CALQUE
Calque is a journal of literature in translation, published in print tri-annually and continuously on the internet.

We publish prose and poetry from any period and by any author writing within a tradition not in English. This work can take the form of stories, poems, manifestos, comics, lectures, etc., but it must be a translation. We do not publish adaptations, homages, "homophonic translations" or anything else in this genus.

Our goal is to bring foreign texts into English so that they may be read, and to publish capable translators so that they may be recognized. To that end, we also publish critical work on and/or in translation, including essays, book reviews of new or forthcoming translations, interviews with translators or publishers of translations, etc.

DONATIONS
We are an independent publication not affiliated with any university or institution. Because of this we depend of the support of individuals, bookstores and libraries for our survival. So if your spouse says to stop gambling on the Cubs to win the Series or she'll leave you, then make a sound investment with us, a struggling literary magazine, where only the cream of down-and-out, steel-gut gamblers place their bets.

To learn more on the perks of becoming a literary patron, email us. Our response will be timely, and, above all, discreet.
